About Us

New Oberpfalz Brewing takes its name from a district in Bavaria

called the Oberpfalz (“Upper Palatinate").

The Oberpfalz is located in the northeast corner of Bavaria and is comprised of the frontier between Nürnberg, Germany and the German/Czech border. It is a rugged landscape, rich in brewing history, and home to many great beers.

The brewery was commissioned on December 22, 2014.

We produce a variety of beer styles, but we specialize in classic German beer. You can visit our Tap Room or find our beer in better liquor stores, gourmet grocery stores, taverns, and restaurants throughout Northern Indiana.

New Oberpfalz was founded on the basis of the world needing more Helles. Our founder's travels to Europe near the turn of the century brought him face to face with fresh, unfiltered, well-made lager beer- something America was sorely lacking in. He resolved to bring these experiences back to America, and New Oberpfalz Brewing came to be.

Built of stone and steel, New Oberpfalz churns through the bounty of the land and produces beer (and food) of unique and exceptional quality.

Our beer wins awards. Our food brings in the locals. Our staff aims to please. You can buy our 6pks at stores and buy our beer on draft at great bars and restaurants in northern Indiana.

We are a small brewery, and we run out of beer sometimes (and all of the time).

The taproom has but one television and we do not take reservations. You'll just have to show up and see what is happening. Check our Google listing for the most accurate hours and information.

We do "last call" at 10pm because our staff is small and they work just about every day- and they work very hard.

Get here early and go home early so that our employees can rest and get back here the next day to do it all again. You can join us tomorrow also. Unless tomorrow is Monday. The taproom is closed on Mondays.

We decided it is better to be the best with what we have than to pretend to be a thing that we are not, so the place is kind of quiet, until it isn't, and then its a lot of fun.
